Since the bank is asking me to earn a bit more (another 5.000 a month pre-tax) money before I can get the house I want, I was surfing around for a good car on Mobile.de and came across this one.

Anyone (Thomsen, Jones) know how much it would cost me total in the Faroes? Looks like a perfect, nice, low-milage, older car, and it's listed at only €8500.

That car would probably cost you about 200.000 kr. at a car dealer here in the faroes.

If you were asking about if I know how much it will cost you if you decide to import it, I don't know, but you probably would pay double of what the car is listed for.

You know it's a Volvo right? smiley

Hasin bilurin hevur eitt nývirði í FO uml. 450.000,-

Eg hevði leysliga mett skrásetingargjaldi (tollur, skráseting og MVG) at komi at ligi um 150-180.000,-

Hettar verður so lagt afturat teimum 8.500,- evrunum hann kostar at keypa, umframt fraktkostnaðinum heim til FO.

(Um tú fer við Norrønu til DK eftir honum, so telur tann billetin sum fraktkostnaður)

Bara eitt leyst skot, um tú kann skaffa upprunaliga fakturavirði frá Volvo-fabrikkinið (tvs. hvat kostar hann beinleiðis frá fabrikkinið) so kann tað roknast heilt neyvt.

There's is only a minor flaw in your plan. The used car market here is in shreds. It is almost impossible to sell a car for a profit (unless you find a dimwit, which again, shouldn't too hard!)

Just a word of warning before you rush into that.

@Roffen: Read the original post!

Norlander wants to import a car for himself. We're not going to become used-car salesmen. Plenty of those to go about.

I want it...Thats my car!

If you notice in the last links I posted there was a special export price listed on some cars. Maybe all of these guys give an "export" price.

There might be as much as a 20% deduction in the export-price. Am still checking. Should get the listed factory price in app. 1½ hours.

Have gotten all of the relative prices now.

The green S80 will cost you 185.000,- DKr total, when it is registered to you, and ready to be shown off.

Best I can do, I'm afraid.

Pretty much. Original price + *1,8.

Damn thing is, it won't help much to find a cheaper, older and more worn-down car as the purchase price of the car only amounts to app 28% of the total amount. All the rest is our nice, friendly government employees needing a pay-check.

Well, it wasn't very clear on the post, especially since you two were quoting local prices to go round at dealers.

Anyway, I hope you find a good car to bring back home. smiley
