Garry Kasparov, former World Chess Champion, was recently chosen the presidential candidate for the 2008 elections in Russia by the opposition coalition, The Other Russia.

Kasparov seems to me to be an extraordinarily intelligent person (no, chess prowess does not equal intelligence), and seems to be genuinely concerned about the people he wants to serve; unlike most presidential candidates of memory.

Too bad that we'll never know if my impression of Kasparov is correct as I predict he will be killed in a mysterious accident before the election.

Here's a clip from an interview by Bill Maher a couple days ago. Notice how every reply is intelligent and elegantly concise, and how Bill Maher is taken aback by his replies.

One of the most eloquent persons I've ever heard.
If he becomes the president of Russia (provided he lives long enough) we'll definetely see some change over there.

No consequence is so unexpected as to absolve us of our decisions.

And you're surprised by this?
