Hoyrdi frá pápa ein dagin at abbi pladdi at fortelja at staði í nú eitur Stóratjørn fyrr hevði eitt annað navn - Harða Brúgv.

Tað er, so vítt eg veit, ikki nakað almindiligt modell at rokna slíkar broytingar.
Men sjálvandi er vindhart har og bygningarnir mugu byggjast eftir teimum fyriskriftunum.

Eg veit ikki ordiliga, hvar tú vilt við hesum, men eg haldi ikki at tað er ein forðing í sær sjálvum at veðrið er vánaligt, men heldur hinvegin ein møguleiki at fáa nakað serligt burturúr... um tað verðu gjørt ordiligt! smiley

There are nearly 100 years worth of empirical data on how wind affects high-rise buildings. The most likely phenomenon is the "canyon effect", where the wind is amplified. When the base gusts are 60 m/s you can end up with a special end result.

Special in a good or bad way? You figure out what I meansmiley

In the current news item OKJones insisted that Landsverk couldn't measure above 56,4 m/sec, where as the embedded images (from landsverk) in this thread clearly show that they're able too.

Been checking the Landsverk web page tonight. It's a lot of wind, the house shakes a bit. Places such as Kalbaksbotnur have 16.5 m/s, Runavík has 12,8 m/s and Nordadalsskarð manages to clock in at 37,9 m/s.

Stóratjørn is though in a league of it's own, being the most wind battered place in the country, registering in at 48,7 m/ssmiley

As you may habve noticed, Stóratjørn has been postponed once more... this time the reasoning is not to poor economy on Iceland.

I wonder what Bárður Nielsen does for his big buck! smiley

Yes, but we knew this 15 months ago already...it just wasn't made public.

And today, while the rest of the country is registering gusts from 18 m/s to low 30's, Stóratjørn is currently registering highs of 52,3 m/s.

And I bloody live right next to it smiley

EDIT: Ir just reached 53,5.
