"Tired of lying in the sunshine
Staying home to watch the rain
You are young and life is long
And there is time to kill today
And then one day you find
Ten years have got behind you
No one told you when to run
You missed the starting gun"
~ Time, Pink Floyd

Peter (Lundin) er nærmest en slags maskot på Færøerne. Der findes små figurer, der er sorte og hvide i ansigtet for at symbolisere godt og ondt der oppe. Han er en legende, griner hun.

How can irony go this wrong? I guess 'Ekstrabladet' doesn't have any sense of humour? Or just that it portraits for lost little girls a little more twisted?

Never attempt irony with journalists present. Don't even attempt any sort of humor. They WILL misinterpret it.

I worry that, especially as the Millennium edges nearer, pseudoscience and superstition will seem year by year more tempting, the siren song of unreason more sonorous and attractive. Where have we heard it before? Whenever our ethnic or national prejudices are aroused, in times of scarcity, during challenges to national self-esteem or nerve, when we agonize about our diminished cosmic place and purpose, or when fanaticism is bubbling up around us - then, habits of thought familiar from ages past reach for the controls. The candle flame gutters. Its little pool of light trembles. Darkness gathers. The demons begin to stir."

Democracy depends on freedom of thought and free discussion. The notion of infallibility of a book or a system of ideas is profoundly undemocratic and unscientific. It is perverse for the western media to lament the lack of an Islamic reformation and willfully ignore works such as Wilders film, Fitna. How do they think reformation will come about if not with criticism?
Ibn Warraq

There is no such right as 'the right not to be offended'; indeed, I am deeply offended by the contents of the Koran, with its overt hatred of Christians, Jews, apostates, non-believers, homosexuals but cannot demand its suppression.

There’s no reason that the government should prevent homosexuals from entering civil marriages because some religions object to the concept, any more than the government should ban atheism because some religions object to it.

The cake is a lie
I am sure some of you have heard the phrase: 'the cake is a lie', by now.
Regardless of the phrase's dubious and immoral origins, it was immortalized by the game Portal. My brother has played the game and his account of the phrase and the game intrigued me. For those of you who wish to try out the game for yourselves, be warned for here begin the spoilers.
In the game the player controls the beautiful and dark Chell, a female action hero in true Tomb Raider fashion. Starting in medias res Chell wakes up in some sort of high tech test facility, unaware of how she got there.
She finds a Portal Gun that can shoot and paste an entry portal and an exit portal on any surface. A lyrical female AI voice, calling itself GLaDOS guides Chell through the first levels of the game.
The levels are puzzles and Chell is urged onwards by GLaDOS by the promise of receiving a scrumptious and moist cake if she follows the AI's instructions.
As time goes on Chell finds out that something has gone horribly wrong at the facility and that GLaDOS perhaps is not as trustworthy as she claims.
GLaDOS' instructions seem to lead to a fiery death, 'the cake is a lie' is scribbled on laboratory walls, and it becomes apparent that others have died following GLaDOS' tempting voice.
In the end Chell finds the computer AI and destroys it; she is transported to the surface, but the camera goes through underground cables to a back-up server room, where GLaDOS now resides. On a table in the server room stands a cake and a robotic arm extinguishes its sole candle.
During the end credits GLaDOS sings a haunting song of farewell.
Here is the end sequence:
