Not many battleships were sunk by submarines. I'm gonna guess at the HMS Barham, which was torpedoed by U-331 on 25 November 1941.
Other contenders are:
- The Japanese British-built pre-Dreadnaught battleship, converted into a transport vessel Asahi, torpedoed by USS Salmon on 25 May 1942.
- The former battleship, converted to an aircraft carrier HMS Eagle, torpedoed by U-73 on 11 August 1942.
- The Japanese Yamato-class battleship Shinano, converted to a super-carrier, torpedoed by USS Archer-Fish on 29 November 1944.

Nope. This ship was actually classed as a 'fast battleship' (originally classed as a super-dreadnought battlecruiser, but later upgraded to Battleship status), when it was torpedoed and sunk.
The Shinano was classed as a Carrier when it sank.

The Kongō%3B, torpedoed by the USS Sealion on 21 November 1944.
The only battleship sunk by submarine attack during the Pacific War, and the last battleship ever sunk by a submarine.
Incidentally, Kongō is Japanese for "indestructible".
