odd that they've done this when people have been using Google Sketchup with the same features for years...but seems this is to Google Sketchup as Google Maps is to Google Earth.

Well, both SketchUp and Google Earth can now be run through the browser. This means a much wider audience, and more people will now make buildings.
They don't need their photo car for this (indeed Street View hasn't arrived for Copenhagen yet); they just need multiple angle aerial photos. Don't see that happening for Tórshavn just yet.

Tórshavn is on the 3d tie up between Google Earth and Sketchup though...and has been for some time.
